I have recently managed to have Sonic R installed in my Windows 7 and was able to play the game like normal. The problem is: I can’t seem to have the background music played in every race. I’ve tried adjusting it via “Options” by switching on the background music and turning on the volume to its maximum but it still didn’t work. Sonic R is another $5 bargain, which would look more at home on a console. Based around Sega's world famous hedgehog, it's an arcade-style racer with power-ups and cutesy characters. However, rather than being the mindless pap you might expect, there is actually some substance to the gameplay, and you'll find that it takes a bit of mastering.

Gameplay

• Sonic R is present in both multiplayer and single-player mode. The player selects a character and participates in a footrace on one of five race tracks. If players collect rings, then they can use it to gain a temporary speed boost or open the doors that lead to a shortcut.
  
• There is an item panel that gives temporary advantages like increase in speed or ability to run across water. If you collect special items such as Chaos emeralds and Sonic tokens that you can unlock the secret characters.
  
• There is also a 'Time Attack' mode, where the player races single to get the fastest time. And there is a two-player competitive mode, that increases to four-players in the Gems Collection port. To the standard time trial mode, there is an addition of two others: Get 5 Balloons and tag four characters.
